How do I setup my Dynon EFIS to send data to Sky Widgets?

To share data from your Dynon SkyView HDX with Sky Widgets you will need a Dynon Wi-Fi adapter. If you do not have one you will need to purchase and install one. By default, SkyView does not share all of its flight data over Wi-Fi. In order to gain access, open the settings menu by holding buttons 7 and 8 at the same time. Rotate the knob clockwise to move down to System Setup and press the knob to enter. Scroll down to Data Log Setup and press the knob to enter. Scroll down to Network Serial Data Stream and press the knob to enter. Scroll down to TCP and press the knob to accept the change. You can now press exit to close the settings menu.

On your iPad, make sure that you are connected to your SkyView's Wi-Fi network. Open Sky Widgets. To make sure you have successfully setup your data connection you can add a Dynon Connection Health widget. If this is your first time adding a widget, you will need to give Sky Widgets access to your location and local network in order for the connection to function properly. Press Enable Connection to show the location permission request, then press Allow While Using App. The local network request should now show. Press allow.

If your connection is configured properly you should see a green dot. The Dynon Connection Health widget can also be helpful for diagnosing the quality of your Wi-Fi connection. If for some reason you are having trouble getting your connection to work, send me a PIREP for more assistance.

Is an Android version of Sky Widgets planned?

At this time, there are no plans for an Android version. As a solo developer, my priority is maintaining a high-performance, bug-free experience for my users. By focusing exclusively on iOS, I can leverage my expertise as an Apple platform engineer to release features faster and ensure the app is 100% reliable in my own cockpit before it reaches yours. Splitting development between two platforms would inevitably lead to feature lag and a compromised experience on both. As long as Sky Widgets remains a focused, independent project, I am committed to making the iOS version the best it can possibly be.
